Now that the football season is over the real sport can begin – cricket. There’s going to be loads of good cricket on this summer that I’m really looking forward to. Last year we had Bangladesh and Pakistan touring England which just didn’t really excite most cricket fans. There were some one day games against Australia but I think a lot of fans are bored with those too. This year we have both Sri Lanka and India coming – they should provide a good test for the England team and a chance to see just how good they really are.

I think that the team didn’t get the credit it deserved after the Ashes win simply because the performance in the world cup was so bad. Some of the test matches were outstanding in Australia though, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen an England team play so well. How it could have suddenly gone so wrong in the World Cup is something I don’t really understand, but I’m sure it had something to do with tiredness – whether it was mental or physical.

I’ve already got tickets for the first day of the third test which I’m really looking forward too. I’ve just got to hope that there is good weather! Ticket sales for some of the tests haven’t been great which I don’t find surprising – two tickets were £120! That’s a lot of money, although you do get a full days entertainment. Even so, if ticket sales aren’t that good they should lower the prices. It’s better to have a full ground than a half empty one even if it does mean that the tickets are worth less.
